He shoots an arrow, freeing Laxman. The mountain asserts that only fire can grant it liberation, offering to guide them to Sita. Laxman accuses the mountain of deceit. Ram, believing the mountain's knowledge of Sita, queries how it is aware of their quest. The mountain reveals its past as a Gandhar, cursed by a sage for causing trouble. Ram demands information on Sita's whereabouts in exchange for the mountain's liberation from the curse. The mountain implores Ram to grant it salvation through fire.
